banal is just another word for "i love you"

“Barre Baby” by Big Moe

Big Moe is, in his words, “a southside living legend, a third ward, born hard street veteran”.  This is totally true.  Except for the part about him living.  He sadly passed away from a combination of sleep apnea and the one thing all of his music makes clear that he loved above anything else: codine-promethazine cough syrup.

I’m sure some of you will see a large bechained gangsta man in a purple bowler hat and go, “eh, i don’t like that southern tic-tic-tic-tic-tic breeeeoww-breeeoow crunk nonsense.”  But let me assure you, Big Moe’s rapping is more like singing than rapping, and his music is pure, catchy, funky, motowny goodness.  I don’t see how anyone could not like Big Moe.  Unless they don’t like listening to songs about sippin drank.  Then you’re pretty much out of luck.  Because that’s what they’re all about.
